If you do a fresh water dip on LR will the bristle and Fire Worms evacuate their home?

If so... how long do they need to be dipped for and will a fresh water dip kill everything else on the rock so in theory spoiling the LR totally..

We seem to have a minor explosion of bristle worms and a few rather large fire worms that we really don't want in our new tank.. I know Bristle worms on the whole are ok.. but we seem to have a lot and a couple of them are rather huge!

Thanks

well not to bothered about the smaller ones, but we have some that are huge. and a couple are the Fire worms not just bristle worms, we've cut back on feeding etc.. but they seem to be getting bigger and are bold! they come out in the day

thanks alot.. i'm guessing you don't recommend fresh water dips then?

Well while you'll get the worms out of the rock that way, but I've heard they burrow in the sand etc.. In my readings the best way is to create a trap and remove them that way..

Also I am not sure what the fresh dip would do to the established bacteria on the rock. Maybe someone more experienced will chime in on this topic.

Couldn't of said it better myself.

im not by any means more experienced, but i would probably use a trap as well.

You could do a FW dip, and they would evacuate, and probably pretty quickly.. but this requires knowing what rocks they are in as well. Also, do you really wanna risk all the established beneficial life on the piece of LR?

I bought my tank used and there were a lot of the bristleworms. I starved them out a bit and they died off. I still have some and I want them mind you but it was good to get rid of some by just feeding the fish a bare minimum for a few days.
