firefish bubble and cottonball creatures

i also have had this problem since up grading tanks i'm putting it down to his bolt hole been down the side of a rock where he also lays on the sand so either muck particle or air bubbles as i`ve up graded my tank & lights & i'm getting air bubbles everywhere on rock sand etc i`ve had this problem around 4-6 weeks now so if it is ich/white spot its not causing a problem as he is no different nor are any other fish within the tank but i`ve read about ich/white spot plus had it a few times & ich spots don`t really move around that fast normally 2-4days etc strange how its a firefish thats getting this problem......

u say the spots move. do they have nay features...could be a tiny parasitic isopod maybe

its only one spot at a time usually (by his tail fin). he's only had two spots once for a few hours.

I can't think of any special features... just looks like a small white pimplish kinda bump.

I checked today and all the spots were gone, but I'm guessing they will be back tonight or tomorrow. its so odd!

whats an isopod?

it really sounds like Ich to me. it can come back fast since the larval/baby form is free swimming. isopods are a type of crustacean, some are good some are bad.

would ich only cover a certain part of the body? I thought it went all over. plus, it doesn't look anything like a salt grain. (trying to convince myself its not a disease! lol) but seriously it doesn't. I know it drops off and comes back in a few days.

also, could I attempt to treat for ich without effecting my inverts? whats a technique?

So its entirely possible that the bubble bumps will just go away by themselves and not return?

I thought once you had ich it could get really out of hand and if you medicated your tank it would kill your inverts.... guess I was wrong on that one. I usually dont have any outbreaks cuz I keep my water quality really good.

I do not have a QT tank. hope it doesn't come to that.

ich like all infections and parasites can only attack weak or stressed animals...thus if water quality and food is prime the fish generally should be strong enough to fight it off and resist a full blown infestation. mine get spots here or there if i miss a water change...but go right away when i do the missed change and plug in the uv.

UPDATE

OK, thanks germanman!

its been 2 and half days since I last saw any sign of a bubble on his fin or anywhere else...

I'm hoping it doesn't come back or i'll be bummin. I've had the fish for almost two weeks. maybe he was a little stressed at first and now he's fighting it off.

another update

My firefish is showing no signs of the strange bubble that appeared before. He's looking good!!! I am happy!
