Firemouth cichlids

i plan on getting some barbs
 
odesa or maybe tiger, do you have breeds that would go well with the firemouths in that tank??

i think i made a bad decision to put a pair of firemouths in my 35 hex tank with 5 odesa barbs, was my decision bad?? and if so why
 
are the firemouths going after the barbs/each other ? not enough space in the hex I imagine.

is the tank cycled ? if not its a mildly bad idea to put anything in there.
 
Hex is not enough room for the fish to swim in., that would have been good for smaller fish. your firemouth will get big. mine are leaning toawrds 6 inches now.

On the other hand, I'd suggest switching the hex tank with a long tank.
 
so would i be fine, would i beable to have other fish
