Firemouth size

I was wondering how big firemouth cichlid's get because mine are about as long as my middle finger( about 2 inches) and I don't want them to get much bigger.

Firemouths (cichlasoma meeki) get to be about 6"

Different cichlids grow to different sizes. I currently own 2 firemouths that will get to about 6 inches. But I also have 2 green terrors that will be 10-12 inches. They are all aprox. 4-5 inches long now.

I don't want them to get much bigger

well, if properly maintained, there's not much you can do about it. that's like having children and deciding you don't want them to grow taller than 3 feet. genetics has something to say about it.

next time, a little research BEFORE you buy your fish will tell you how big they are likely to get. then you can decide whether you should or want to buy them. the time to decide how big you want them to be is not AFTER you've already got them.
