Fireplace for a back wall?

My hubby and I are working on plans for a house and I am looking for places to put tanks. One of the spots is on the backside of the fireplace, which is 6' by 7' and the front side has the actual fire. Would this be a practical spot or would it have to much impact on a tank. Thanks.

I'm not sure... the thermal conductivity of brick through from the fire (when it is on) to the tank might be a problem. I noticed that ambient temperature can affect a tank very easily so I would be very careful unless you don't plan on using the fire place.

It would be used consistantly during the winter, but if it was between a 75 and 120 gal would it do that much. And room temp would stay between 65 & 75.

It would also depend on the thickness of the rear fireplace wall. I would make a fire, let 'er burn for a good number of hours, and feel the wall to see how much heat it is putting out.

You can put your hand on a stone wall 2 hours after sunset and still feel the retained heat from the afternoon. The fireplace would probably add just enough heat to help the tank heater work less often.

sumthin fishy it will kinda be hard to feel how much heat it is putting out for at least a few years, we are going to finish remodeling the house we are in before we start building. I want to plan reinforcements into the floor where I am putting sizable tanks. I am working on a 11ft bench for a one wall now.
