first big tank with plants

yeah i think they look great, very striking for tropical fish. Not too sure how much they're going to charge me actually, saw them and simply thought 'i want those fish' but have managed to find an online supplier who has them listed for £15 each or £12 for 4 or more - shame they don't have any at the moment, i understand they're actually quite difficult to get hold of so if anyone knows a stockist with some around SW london....

If you do decide to go with the Denison barbs, keep in mind they come from fast moving streams full of oxygenated water. Therefore, another filter (preferably pointed down the length of the tank) would more than likely be necessary. Furthermore, these guys like their water a bit on the cooler side so that will influence the rest of your stock/plants.

Looks really nice so far!

thanks again for the comments - my 'cute' border collie has eaten my lead so i can't transfer update photos for few days, bless her!!
Quick question, strangely i have small patches of green algae forming in middle of sand. it appears to only be forming here and i have a red spot light for effect during light 'off time' - i thought it may have been this causing it so i've turned it off for few days but to no avail. Lighting is standard T5 with the tank (Vision 260 bowfront), i have 10 plants in there, standard filter and additional Fluval 2, stocked with 4 Congo Tetras, 4 Denison Barbs, 6 Leopard Danios, 5 Guppies, 4 Clown Loaches and 3 Plecos (not sure which but just cheap 'algae eaters' from my LFS)
help please as tank is looking lovely with plants and wood but algae just dirties it!!

Beware with 2 angels, especially with a big size difference. The small one is likely to be picked to death. You should also have at least 6 congos and 6 denisonis.

The plecos are probably common. If they are, get rid of them, try replacing them with bristlenoses. Commons get huge and messy, while BN's only get 4-5".

You should also return the clown loaches. They can easily reach 12" in a suitable tank, and they like a lot of company.

Besides that, you're doing great. I'd slow down on the stocking, though, seems there's a crapload of fish going in a lightly cycled tank all at once. You can get spikes that way.

Great tank. Waiting for the update pics!

nice tank!! how many gallons is it?
