My tank is cycled and ready for my first discus..........I think. I know these guys are sensitive so a few last questions for you guys.

Is 84 degrees ok? What's the lowest temp I can do with them if I do a water change a day and maintain perfect water quality?

Will they tolerate any nitrites at all?

They will not tolerate nitrates, correct?

I prefer 86...and if you getting juvies, you will be feeding several times a day. How about some more details..tank size? Filtration? Any other fish in that tank? How was your cycle done?

I also prefer 86. Nitrite poisoning can actually be worse than ammonia poisoning, no fish will tolerate elevated nitrite. Keep your nitrate as low as you can. Everyone's source water and tank conditions are a little different. I start out with nitrate in the tap from area fertilizer runoff. My nitrate typically runs between 30-40 ppm during the spring and summer months without issue. I don't let it get any higher than that. Let us know the rest of your tank details.

good luck! make sure you buy 4 or more similar sized & from a good reputable dealer. if you give more info on your set up many here will help you thru the start up. I keep mine at 87-89. also, QT any new fish (don't make mistake I & many others have made) cuz not worth the risk, keep prazipro & metro on hand for any break outs, use master test kit not strips, & lastly do daily w/c's. have fun!
