Well, when I picked up my plants I saw (what I thought) was a beautiful female betta...and I figured with the larger tank (29 gal), the plants, and daily testing, any cycle would be minimal and possibly silent...and even if it wasn't it'd be easily managed...and I wanted to grab the betta before she became sick from the little bowl...
A week later the betta's doing well, the tank IS spiking but it's slow and easily manageable, and most the bettas that came in her shipment appear dead on the shelf...so I figured I did the right thing. I figured I'd show a few pics I took of her earlier this week.
These are the best I can get of her color...a nice blue with some red highlights around her gills and her pelvic fins.
And some more, less light (less color) of her swimming around her lonely tank.
Hope you enjoy the pics...hopefully adding some to the family in a week or two as the tank cycles a bit more (nitrites started showing up this morning, 1 week after initial setup)...slowly, a few fish, let the tank adjust, a few more...the patience of fishy cycling.
