First fish in the community aquarium - fem betta

That betta has beautiful colours and great finnage. I've heard of a few instances where someone has bought a female betta which turned out to be a young male. Keep your eye on that! Even if it is a male, they go fine in community tanks as long as there's only one of them.

I just did some research to double check to make sure I didn't have a crossdresser or tranny in my tank...and I can distinctly see her egg tube...I saw it yesterday and thought it was just some white poop that hadn't fallen off yet, but after reading a bit more (thanks to you) I now know what it is. :) She's just a beauty of a female. :)

Just a little update...

Still in my nitrite spike...hopefully next week I'll be through the cycle and just hafta worry about mini-cycles as I add new fish. Bought some Hornwort, a Colosseum thingie, and redecorated the tank a bit. Just need some foreground plants and I should be good.

Not planning a sorority...going to add a school of either neons or black neons, a school of Serpea Tetras, and maybe a couple Cories or Ottos...maybe both, kinda debating the end stocking right now.

editing to add: The Anacharis on the right is loose, waiting on some better roots to form on those peices...I'm planning on putting it all in the back left behind the decoration and letting it grow to the surface to hide the wiring.
