First Planted Tank - 46 Bowfront

I dont doubt the commitment at all. Just saying you're going to really need to reachout to discus keepers for their advice. Worry less with the plants, and more on the Discus.
I would move all plants to the back edge and corners

Will do. Also the tank is about six weeks old and has cycled...no nitrates or phosphates with good water parameters etc. The tank contains discus compatible tank mates. Plant selection was based on low-light, warm water and being discus friendly. Water is a mix of RO with some tap water.

The plants were larger that I expected, hard to tell size from a picture. Also figured adding plants prior to the discus be less stressful than adding plants afterward. I'm trying to simulate their natural habitat. So mistakes on my part is tank size, could be longer and plant placement, back and sizes.

I have done a fair amount of research and do have 3 reef tanks so I do not feel like a total newbie. I do however want happy, healthy discus and am planning a larger tank in the near future. Jason, thank you for your help. Are you keeping discus now?

Thanks and they're juveniles, about 2.5 to 3 inches and a group of six so looks like I have lots to look forward too. I will be doing tanks in the evening hours with this tank and three reef tanks. It is a shame you can't put a sump and protein skimmer on a freshwater.

What you doing with your discus now?

Also I moved all the taller plants to the back and sides so this should be better. I also might be thinning some of these plants as they grow.

I think your tank will be very overstocked with that many discus... I wish you lots of luck in maintaining optimum water conditions!

But purely looking at your tank, the setup is nice - is that a lily plant or a crazy melon sword? Huge!

6 discus in a 46g ?!

fishorama, How do I find Chad Hughes on the website

fishycat, there's a melon on the right and ocelot on the left. My research indicated a group of six to reduce aggression. I will check with the breeder and see about reducing the number to maybe three/four? or even two?
