First Ram Spawn - Pics & Video

After doing some research on my next tank setup I can across a site (not sure which it was) that talked about how Rams are actually not very good parents. According to the article they tend to either ignore their eggs after a while, or end up eating them. Maybe after a couple of spawnings they might work on actually keeping them alive.

The movies didn't work for me either. The quicktime icon just comes up with a questionmark on it after a while. It looks like its not working for me.
If you get any sort of network burp it will stop loading (like you wait for a while and it seems to load and then it comes up with the question mark). I had that problem at work, we were having horrible network problems, where it would go off for a few seconds, which is enough to stop a load.

Either that or you don't have the right plug-in but most likely its the connection you have causing the problems.

Yah I think I heard that too. We'll see. There better parents already than most fish (ie guppies ;) ).

Ok I just checked. I was wondering why my light wasn't coming on (as I'm usually not home when it does). It turns out that the light strip was flipped off (cats are probably the culprit) and thus the light was off, but more importantly so was the filter and heater. The temp had plummeted from 84 to 78 degrees since 3am (according to when the timer stopped). It also seems that the ram nest has been abandoned (either that or they moved it but I can't quite tell).

It appears I have the kind of male that prefers the harem approach vs. monogomous. Now that the eggs seem to be completely gone he seems to be staking out territory with the other female and chasing off the female he laid eggs with. This girl has a rosy pink belly so I might see another spawn sooner than I thought.

Sorry to drag up an old thread...but I have to comment at my shock of how prolific these guys are. I've heard spawning every 2-4 weeks is normal. But mine has spawned 3 times in 1 week (2 females, 1 male). Its crazy! I'm in awe....and proud but know that if they are breeding so much it hasn't sunk in that they should try to raise them for more than a day or two. On top of the fact that I'm treating the tank for 2 illnesses, but the meds don't seem to deter them.

Ok here are a couple pics of the most recent spawn (actually still going on):

I have more pics of my whole tank and the spawn here:

Thanks! I'm excited and sad at the same time. Unfortunatley the female that spawned just previous to this...looks like she is on her way out. She seems to be succumbing to the columnaris  . This current female also has columnaris or at least I think that is what it is (have another thread going about how to treat it). I just want them to be better, I haven't had them that long. I lost a male pretty early to this. Now one of the females is displaying the same symptoms he did and he died in a couple days. I hope the meds I'm using will save this girl..

I LOVE them. I find cameras do really neat things for their color. They do shimmer in the light but the camera really brings out the blue reflection off the scales. I actually used a flash on these shots and it made for a very different effect than my first photos in this thread.
