First Shell Dweller Tank: Need Advice

You could possibly try it and may work if you get them young enough mine came from Greg at Little Africa Aquatics he can be found in the Tanganyika section on aquabid of course he lives like 20 minutes away from me and i was able to ride over and pick them up.

On one of my other threads someone suggested that I pile rocks like Texas holey rocks on one end of the tank and put in a pair of smaller julies (like transcriptus), and then on the other end have some shellies. Could I have a small colony of L. Multifaciatius and a pair of transcriptus?

On another note, is there a difference between Lamprologus and Neolamprologus?

I have heard others trying this mix and a lot of folks say it works but if you want to see a large true colony of Multi's it is best to keep them in a species setup as the Transcript's will probably eat the fry that venture out. Plus i have Texas Holey rock in all my setups except a couple of tanks..

As for the difference between Lamprologus and Neolamprologus i believe it has something to do with the classification of species between the Congo basin and the lake but i think what happens is that a lot of hobbyist are just saying that they are Lamprologus when they should call them Neolamprologus..

Thanks again Pittbull! I think I am going to breed Kribensis cichlids in this tank. I began to realize that the big appeal to shell dwellers was the fact that I could watch them raise fry. My parents don't really like shellies (they say that shellies are "ugly fish" :irked:) but they liked Krib cichlids. Either way, thanks for all the info!

No problem.. Kribs are cool i like the albino Krib they look pretty cool especially the female albino krib that has the purple on her belly plus they breed pretty easily and should be ok in your water..

That's the million dollar questions :grinyes:
