Convicts and Firemouths?

I have a 55 gallon tank and a 25 gallon. I already have a convict about 2 1/2 inches in the 25 gallon tank. I want to get a pair of convicts and possibly a pair of firemouths. Can these two pairs live in the 55 gallon? If they fight which pair can I move with the other convict? Also what are good alge eaters to go along with these fish? Thanks for your help.

Hmm. in a 55 if you provide enough cover (caves, plants, etc) you may be able to keep firemouths and convicts together, although they are both pretty territorial and can be aggressive, so more than likely i'd say they would end up fighting. I'd go with a 1-2 pairs of firemouths in the 55, without convicts. Ancistrus sp., or clown plecos should both be fine with them.
