Hi all! My girlfriend will probably set up an angel tank next to my Discus tank and I have a question. I always wanted some leaf fish and I'm thinking about sticking 2 in the Angel tank. How do Leaf Fish get along with Angels? Actually I know nothing about Leaf fish. I thought they look real cool though.

If you mean the south american type of leaf fish, the problem will be that they are predators that don't adapt to prepared food, and being a tank with other fish, it is not easy to get them to eat in something other than a species tank.

The other leaf fish available in the hobby is usually referred to as either "Spotted leaf fish" , "african leaf fish", or bushfish in the trade. They are much more active and adaptable than the south american leaf fish. They are semi-aggressive in my experience, although never kept with angels.

I have always wanted to have south american leaf fish, but have been put off on their dependence on live fishes. It would most likely starve to death, unless your willing to give it feeders in a communty tank.

Like RT said, the african ctenopoma is much more suited to an aquarium, and has the same basic care as gourami, but a hell of a lot more personalty and color.

I am afraid the angels would be totally freaked out even by the presence of leaf fish. Better to keep the leaf fish and the angels separated from each other.
