I currently have a 6inch dempsey that is crimping his fins and rubbing his gill covers on the gravel. The rubbing only happens every once in a while but the crimping I am noticing is happening more often. Water conditions are as follows ph7.6 nitrate10ppm nitrite0ppm's water is changed weekly. I do not see any obvious spots on him either or scrapes and he is still eating.

I really dont like medicating until I know what this is. He is still eating but his color isnt so good and he's still crimping fins. I did a water change last night. The site was informative but didnt really help me with the diagnosis so here we go here are the symptoms rubbing gill on rocks every once in a while not all the time crimping fins and loss of color not nearly as beatiful as before. As I said earlier he is still eating seems to be alot more sketchy when I approach the tank though.
My oscar does this from time to time, but never shows any signs of disease and the color is still fine, just he crimps his pectoral fins alot, and he rarely scratchs his gills
