Hello,

I have a 20 gallon tank that I have had for a few years now. All of the fish that I had in the tank died off a few months ago over a period of time except one fish. Over the past two months I have been trying to add new fish to the tank but they die within a few hours of being added.

My water is pretty good, and the tank was fine since day one. it is just recently that I can not add fish. Today I bought four Mollies and they all died in two hours.

I have not added anything new other then fish to the tank for at least a year.

The one fish that is in there is happy as could be.

The sole survivor is a yellow gourami that is about 2 to 3 inches in length.

I have tried to watch him when the new fish are added and he doesn't seem to bother them.

Thoughts?

Have you ever actually watched the new fish for several hours? Or just kinda check up on 'em occasionally and then let 'em be? Just something I've noticed... my fish behave a bit differently when they notice I'm in the room than when they can't see me down the hall.

One other suggestion... perhaps OTS? (old tank syndrome) What is your water change regime?

what kind of test kit...?

No "okays" allowed here...exact ammo, nitirtes, nitrates required...

My thoughts exactly. If ammonia and nitrite arent 0, then its not okay.

I think that my test kits are now expired or not working properly.

The last time that I had my water tested (two weeks ago) was at the pet store.

I will get a new kit tomorrow and try again. What is a recommended kit?

I do water changed (about 25%) every week or two.

Yep I agree water has to be good every time best thing to get new test kits and recheck your water parameters.
