Hi

I have a 75 gallon with 1 small picasso trigger , 1 medium green spotted puffer and 1 domino damsel and 1 snowflake eel , small. i am getting bigger tank.

over 3 days i lost 2 damsels and a tomato clown , none had signs of ich or disease or where being abused and all where eating. Now my trigger has been rubbing alot and has some white stuff on his top fin. The eel has been hiding alot more and has not been eating. And the damsel shows some fin rot i think on top fin, Puffer looks and seems fine. The puffer , trigger and damsel are all eating.

yesterday my lfs guy who i have been going to for years gave me ORGANI-CURE to use in tank. He checked my water and all was good. He advised a slightly lower dose of organi-cure , 55 drops instead of 75. and advised using 40 drops until things look better.

My question is , can i and should i do a freshwater dip on my remaining fish ? I have read it works good , i just dont know if i can after adding meds to my tank.

any advise would be appreciated

thanx

u are safe to use organic cures in the tank and the dips will work ok if its ich...but wont treat other things. it usually stresses the fish a lot. also id recommend getting ur own test kits....lots of stores will lie...my old work did cause they were cheep...or at least get the results on paper...ok or good isnt always so...sounds like water issues or fighting to me....keep us posted.

hi

Hi

Thanx German

My water was tested at my lfs , he is trustworthy and used all the advanced equiptment. All tests where fine.

I think i am gonna try a frshwater dip on my trigger , he seems to have some stuff on him. Cant find eel , so ill have to hope , and i will try dipping damsel to. Puffer seems fine so i will leave him be.

Question, should i shut the lights or leave them on less ? just wondering if it would relieve stress.

and advice would help

I'm betting on a problem with the environment too. In fact, it's almost always the environment.

Fish get sick because their immune systems become compromised due to stress. Amyloodinium, Cryptocaryon, Brooklynella; all of these are present in our aquariums all the time.

Everything is going along fine, the tank is stable for years, and a heater fails one winter night. In a day or two everything in the tank is rubbing itself raw trying to scrape off the parasites. Where did they come from? They were in the system all along. As the fishes immune system begins to fail, the parasites establish a foothold and the fish is unable to fight them off without help.

I still think Germanman is right about the water. It's either that, or an inadvertent poisoning of the tank. Did you notice an unusually high output from the skimmer lately? Sometimes that will go hand-in-hand with a poisoning episode.

Your first order of business should probably be a huge water change.

HI

Hi guys

I did have the water checked by myself and the lfs. The lfs guy who i know for a long time checked water with the most modern equiptment and said water was fine.

Yesterday i fresh dipped , trigger , puffer and damsel. Couldnt find eel so no dip for him.

After trigger dip, there was alot of mucus or something in the dip water. The trigger seems fine today ate and has a little mark on his side, i think wound from scratching. The puffer is also fine and ate good today , same with damsel. I dipped them for 13 mins each. Also today the eel came out and ate.

I left light on for 7 hours yesterday, should i keep this up ? Also should i continue the Organi-cure , seems like its working so i think i might.

I have no skimmer on tank . I use a hob penguin filter and a large hydro sponge. And heater has been working and no change in temp.

thanx for the help and anymore advice would be appreciated, especially about continuing the organi-cure.

thanx

hi

Hey

1 more question. Should i do a water change while i am using the Organi cure ? Checked tank water again and all is 0 , just nitrates at about 50mg/l

I think i will water change, nitrates are high. Should i readd the organi-cure after water change ?

thanx
