Fish Dying, Bad Day...

I noticed one of the bumblee bee gobies was not looking too well so I did a 25% water change, and added aquarium salt (rather than using prime this time around). 1 TSB per 5 gallons. I also flushed the fluval filter water (water inside the filter) because it looked icky and was easy to do. Bumble Bee gobies seem happier with minimal aquarium salt added (at least the healthier one did), and other fish and snails seem unaffected.

Is this a brackish tank? I’m pretty sure that Bumble Bee gobies are brackish, not freshwater, fish which might account for them liking a little salt. That aside, I’d use the prime when doing water-changes whether you use salt or - as far as I know salt will not take care of the chlorine and that could be a potential issue with the fish. Any sign of parasites or fungal infections? It does sounds like a water quality issue, so even if everything is testing normal I’d probably start doing water changes at least once a day. I hope everything gets better before you have to leave!

nah I already left and I am back from my trip. Looks like only the otto died while the BB Gobie looks to be getting sick next.

They are brackish water fish but are currently in my FW tank as they were sold to me as Freshwater fish. These Gobies can live in fresh water but it will reduce their life expecancy some. I will be making a BW tank for them eventually though, as soon as my new filter has established in the tank for about 4 weeks. They will likely go in my 3 gallon eclipse that I am currently using for Guppy fry.

I found the Boy! A couple days ago I found him. I was replanting some Wisteria and all of a sudden he swam out of no-where!

I htink he may have been stuck under the plant somehow as I removed the one pice of drifwood and still could not find him!

He was soooo happy! He was swimming around like Whats up! WTH, WTF, Im back! I'm Back! Check me out! WOOT. Swam right up to my girl guppy and got to it. After having a nice snack of flake food and blackworms and taking a nice poop he is looking good.

His color was pale and he has some damage done to one of his fins. I think it will grow back he is definately a trouper! He was stuck in one spot for about 2 weeks I have no idea how he lived!

Now that the fry are developing colors I can tell they are kis kids! They are random beautiful colors I'm just hoping their tales continue to grow like the first batch!

The Oto Died, I after some reading I decided that he was on his way out when I bought him.
