I have just set up a new tank, and put some neon tetra inside there..
It is actually has not been cycled yet, New filter and no substrate..
They are like going to die very soon..
What is the possible reason? I dont think it is because the tank has not been cycled, 1 hour is just too fast..

I had the same thing happen, but I was like 12(Over a decade ago). You can't put fish directly into untreated/uncycled tap water, it generally has enough bad stuff to kill them quick. It may works sometimes, who knows but I don't do it anymore that is for sure.

Emmmm...correct me if I'm wrong but you have other tanks in which the cycle is established/complete.

Move some filter media and substrate into this new tank. Do a large water change. Continue testing for ammonia/nitrite etc. until you are sure it is cycled up.

You could be right in that the 'disease' has nothing to do with there being no cycle in the tank (bad batch etc.) but the above should be done anyway. I say 'disease' because you don't describe any symptoms.

if you JUST set up the tank before introducing fish, did you check the temperature first?

Untreated water, unacclimated fish= untimely death.

i killed my fish oncecause my water wasnt dechlorinated. I went into a petstore in the mall by me when i was like 12, i bought a 2 gallon acrylic hex kit and 2 fish. Not one person asked me if i needed help or if i had any of the essentials for my fish. I had no idea and both fish died. One fell out of the bag when i poured them in (i didnt know ihad to acclimate them to the water first) and fell behind my night stand. He was a nice black fishand when he fell back there he fell in some fuzz. When i put him back in the tank he had the fuzz stilll on him. He was out of the tank for like 2 mins max i think. He swam a bit and then he died like 20 mins later. The other fish lived for a couple hours, maybe 2 and then he died. I havent had fish until now (9 years later).

Even when i went to get my betta this time, i had to ask if i needed a water conditioner. It kind of makes me mad that they dont ask just to make sure. Its a big deal

lesson learned,
Be more patient, wait for the tank to be cycled and
get a test kit before putting any livestock in..

It is my first time have a new tank set up with new filter..

I have the other 2 tanks for a couple of months but It was started with a stabilized substrate and filter media..
So this is why cycling is important, now I get it..

I was just so excited to see fishes in my tank, and now I see dead fishes :wall:
