fish dying in just 1 hour

:(

Live and learn... we've all made mistakes.

Untreated water, unacclimated fish= untimely death.
:iagree:

Sorry for your losses but patience is very important when setting up a fish tank. Glad you learned from you mistake.

lesson learned,
Be more patient, wait for the tank to be cycled and
get a test kit before putting any livestock in..

It is my first time have a new tank set up with new filter..

I have the other 2 tanks for a couple of months but It was started with a stabilized substrate and filter media..
So this is why cycling is important, now I get it..

I was just so excited to see fishes in my tank, and now I see dead fishes :wall:

Emmmm...correct me if I'm wrong but you have other tanks in which the cycle is established/complete.

Move some filter media and substrate into this new tank. Do a large water change. Continue testing for ammonia/nitrite etc. until you are sure it is cycled up.

You can just use some of the filter media & substrate from your established tank to get a new tank running.

my poor fishes..

I dont have established filter here, perhaps I can start with plant first?
I read somewhere plant helps to do the cycle..

Plants do help.

You said you have a couple tanks set up for a couple of months started with established filter media. These are probably cycled = established filter.

its a harsh lesson to learn, especially that way. Some fish are more hardy than others and can withstand cycling from the beginning. If you monitor is constantly you can ease the transition with more freqenct water changes adjusting the water parameters as needed from whati understand.

They are 2 feet tank.. with only 8 tetras housed inside..
When I just put them in, they school together, but later one by one apart from each other and start to behave oddly.. they didnt swim properly..

I'm visitting LFS tommorow? what is the important thing that I might want consider to get?
Basically I only have the tank, powerhead + sponge, light and thermometer.

I will get testkit like ammonia, nitrate, clorine, pH, maybe a hydrometer? and what else?
