Fish eating other fish fins

when I went to the store for some fish they had the bala shark with other guppies and they told me it was ok to put them together. I guess I just have to read the forums before going to the store.

most fish tanks at the LFS have overstocked tanks or incorrectly stocked tanks as you've seen. This is because of the quick turn out they will have (people buying fish). If the person at the store told you these two fish go well together, my best suggestion is finding another store.
