Fish Flakes

Standard tropical flakes are just that, standard. Nothing special about them (IMO nothing is special with any flakes), they are the original thing.

Color enhancing flakes are supposed to make the colors in your fish brighter, and more vivid. Again, IMO it depends on the fish in question, exactly which brand of food you are using, how fresh the food is, and even then it can be hit or miss. Some people report that they have great success with brightening up their fish, others *like myself* say it's all a marketing ploy. :D

Vegetable flakes? Never heard of those, and I may be speaking out my rear but I suppose they contain more vegetable matter?

It's been a long time since I've seen food called vegetable flakes, but I'm pretty sure they're supposed to be made of vegetable matter. Anyways, they're green, most likely dyed. I don't think they're any healthier than regular flakes because they're still just dry flake food.

About only thing the color enhancing flakes do is change the color of the fishes poop.

The color of fish wastes is influenced by whatever he/she eats or has in his/her diet. It is pretty neat, because you can just about tell what kind of food (meats or veges) that the fish has had recently. :p

I am convinced that Omega One is the best fish food out there and they have explanations about the different kinds of foods what they contain and do for your fish. I use the color enhancing flakes which, the cichlid flakes, the cichlid pellets, the super veggie flakes, and the veggie rounds. This is the only brand of fish products that contain no fish meal and do contain whole salmon (except for the veggie stuff I think). My fish have never been healthier or more beautiful since I started using Omega One, and they all eat like pigs!

P.S. I don't sell the stuff. I'm just convinced it is the best all around fish food out there.

What you feed your fish depends on the type of fish. Goldfish shouldn't be fed tropical flakes as they are too high in protein. Tropical fish should be fed veggie flakes as a sole diet either as they need more protein. Of course that isn't to say that they can't be fed on a part time bases but should not be the staple of the diet.
