Hi All,
In my 29 gal heavily planted tank I have Rummynose and Ember tetras, as well as Porkchop rasbora. I find that they will only eat fish flakes, not pellets or bits or anything else that is not strictly flakes, Is this normal with these fish?

Sounds normal. You can typically acclimate them over to pellets or whatever you want. They might ignore them for awhile, but should eventually eat them. Main thing is use foods with good basic ingredients for the first 3-4 or so in the ingredient list. No grains or fillers in the first 3 preferably.

Yes, FF has it right. Look for fish, seafood, veggie matter. Ingredients are listed by what is most in the food. You don't want corn, wheat, soy, etc in those first 3 or 4. Also look for slow sinking tiny pellets. Do you have any plans for a bottom feeder or small group of them? I'd try 2 different flakes to change things up. I like Omega 1 Super Color flakes & some others. But they're not all good from any 1 company. Research!

You've been here on AC a long time tackful, my friend. Do I need to remind you? If it were me, I'd add a school of dwarf corys. So cute, too small to dig up plants & will clean up any leftovers. Just a thought...I love my bottom feeders! Maybe a clown pleco instead? Nocturnal so you won't see it much but cute when you do.

Will look at the dwarf corries and check out the ingredients in my food. Funny, although I know quite well that the quality of dog food can vary tremendously from brand to brand, never considered that the same could be true of fish food.
Many thanks for the helpful responses.
