I am planting my ten gallon in the very near future and would like to put just one, or maybe a few fish in it. What would be some good ideas that won't bother the plants?

Other than a Betta, I can never recommend just one fish in a tank.

There are many choices for a "community" aquarium!

(Ooops, this belongs in Gen. Freshwater, or ....) :D

why a 10g, that is an incredibly small tank. i say get a bigger tank m8

Terras and danios are good fish, there are a ton of choices, and since they max out at only 2 inches you can get a few. Most small fish should leave plants alone. Stay away from cichlids, most eat plants, plus they get to be too big and are too agressive.

Here is a thread that talks about stocking a 20 gallon tank. It should give you some ideas. Obviously you could only have about 1/2 of what they reccomend.

I already have the 10 gallon laying around not being used. My other tank is a 46 gallon. But I figured I'd learn how to grow plants in the 10 gallon before trying it in such a large tank.

Here's a few articles that might be helpful:

Setting up your first planted tank

Plantguide

On the plantguide, click on lighting requirements and this will help you pick the right plants for your tank. If your 10 gallon has just the basic lighting, check out the low light plants. You can have a beautiful low light tank without all the maintenance, special equipment, and extra bucks required for plants which require more lighting.
