Fish for a 50 gallon tank, let's fill 'em up

hi everyone, I just recently acquired a 50 gallon tank and I was wondering what would other fish would gel together with my bettas. :confused:
I currently have:
2 male bettas
1 female betta
14 bettas (about 2 months old)
50 betta fry (about 3 weeks old)

I love bettas since they do not require high maintainance (in my experience) like air pump, filter, dechlorinization, etc. What other fish would be as hard as these bettas?

Sounds like right now your tank is full. 65 bettas will pack hat tank as they get larger. I would expect a more pressing need right now is a way to separate the male bettas unless you have one of the peaceful betta species and not the betta splendens that we are used to.

yeah unless they are abnormaally peaceful

Not all splendens are ultra aggressive. I know several people that have had luck mixing male bettas in larger tanks, so it's largely a "with caution" thing.
If anything it's mixing males with females I don't often see work since the females will either beat the males up eventually or vice versa.
Surprised they would live peacefully with all the fry though for very long if they're splendens :)

I have rummynose tetras and kuhli loaches in with my betta and they mix well, but you seem pretty full right now. If you end up removing your fry you could give it a go.
 
yea i seen males together in large aquariums. they do best with alot of floating plants and stake out territory like cichlids. they only "fight to the death" if in a small bowl and the loser can't retreat.

get a clip on fry tank and put in in the aquarium and drop two cichlids you will see the same exact behavior

Thanks for the inputs. After reading your replies, I tried with caution to place the adults (one at a time) with the 2-month old bettas. But all 3 adults keep chasing the smaller ones. Hence I decided the following set-up (for now):
- the 2-month old bettas (14) in the 50 gallon tank.
- I have a spare 20 gallon where the 2 bettas (male and female) are housed
- 10 gallon for the new fry
- small bowl for the other male betta

I also dechlor the water and added some salt in the 50gallon since I observed that their behaviour is not normal. After the treatment, they seem back to normal.

I haven't tried to place the 3 adults in the same 50 gallon. In case it will work, what other fish / species (aside from what was mentioned here - rummynose tetras and kuhli loaches) will be best to go with them? My son wants to put a turtle but I'm not sure if they will go together.
