Okay, so being the newbie I am, I jsut checked through the entire list of fish NOT to keep, and well, how about list of fish that are great for begginers to keep!

Any input...

Mike

basically, the best tank size to start out with (IMHO and many others opinion as well) is a 55 gallon tank. Not too big, not too small. Anything less, especially smaller than a 30 gallon is pushing it. And anything larger is probably too expensive:p

As for fish, there are plenty of great beginner fish - clowns, damsels, chromis, etc.

That is a true statement, But I personally dislike 55s because the are too shallow front to back and hard to aquascape.

i agree with ray on both. 75 is probably better than a 55. you have the added depth, and arent that much bigger than a 55.

as far as beginner fish, thats tough. i am still a beginner, and have managed to kill off some of the hardiest fish. i would say IME aqua cultered clowns , and damsels are probably the hardiest.

Clowns, Damsels, Triggers, Eels (if a tight fitting lid and the best are the Snowflake, Chainlink, and Zebra), Cardinalfish, Blennies, Gobies, Dartgobies (Bar Gobies, Scissortails), Firefish, most Wrasses, Groupers, Assessors/Comets-Marine Betta-, I think I got most of them :). This is why I didn't create a list for them, because there are tons of them. Plus it is all dependant on tank size as to what a good beginner fish is. Triggers are great for beginners with an absolute minimum tank size of 75g for the Picasso and min tank of 125g for the Clown and such. While a Clown is a great fish for a 20g tank. Anyway, look into some of these fish and post back with what you like and then we can comment more. THE ABSOULTE BEST THING TO DO IS: Pick a fish that you can't live without (as long as it will work for your tank size)-a centerpiece fish- and form a fish list around that. Like mine was a Clown Trigger for my 209g tank. Anyway, hope this helps and good luck.
