i have a rainbow shark that seems to have some fuzzy fungus on his face. i am not sure what it is. i just had a pictus cat die yesterday and i didn't see a single thing wrong with him. how do i treat this fungus or whatever it is. its not really white, more of a pale grey. its also hard to actually see it because he for some reason never faces the right direction when i'm looking at him. lol.

Almost certainly not a fungus.

Possible culprits to research are columnaris and Costia.

Im really kinda lost on this, maybe if you give us the status/size/and fish in tank it would hep a little bit better. Is this tank cycled? Also how is the grey shaped? Is it flakey coming off the skin like its peeling (Like fungus) or is it integrated into the skin such as a ich, velvet, etc??

well, unfortunately its all now a moot point. i took him out of my 55g tank and put him in a 3g quarantine tank to medicate him and i came back a couple hours later and he had jumped out and dried up. it really sucks. on a positive note, i just looked at my tank again and two of my 4 angels mated and have covered one of the sword leaves with eggs! now i have to figure out what to do with those.
