My fish have all lost it! I just got 2 new SAEs, and at first they were all scared and just hid under some wood. When they finally came out, they refused to eat algae, and would instead join the rest of the fish and eat their flakes, granules, etc. I guess my gouramis decided something needed to be done about the algae, because now they're eating it! The cory cats soon followed suit, and now all of my fish (except the algae eaters) are eating the algae in the tank, and not very well, might I add. Does anyone have any kind of idea on why they might be doing this and how I might fix it? Thanks!

Yeah it's brown algae, at least I'm assuming that's what it's called. It's brown, and it's all over everything. I've never had algae problems like this before (well once... but the tank was next to the window so I figured that one out pretty fast). I'm thinking I might get some otos. Between the otos and the SAEs, my tank will be algae free.... right? :o

Can you post a pic or 2 of the SAE's?

Yup I took pics, and some of them were actually decent, but the cord to connect my camera to the computer has vanished. I suspect the dog, or the boyfriend, but it is nowhere to be found.

If the pic was to see that they are real SAEs, they are. The black line goes all the way through the tail, and the line is jagged. They're definitely authentic SAEs. :D

I don't know very much about ottos. I heard they are cute though :) I know the common pleco does a great job! They come in smaller sizes that won't grow so big. Also the Rubbermouth pleco is pretty good, I have one of those. They are very cute!
