Fish ID

I was given this fish today. I'm assuming it's a cichlid... I have no ID or history on it. It's obvious the fish had been in a bad scuffle. Can anyone tell me what it is?

Thanks, I'm not familiar with them so I'll get busy and do some research. Hopefully it will be compatible with fish from one of my tanks!

Should be compatible with most South American Cichlids. You should get a few more. Try to get a pair. They will breed like crazy...

There medium sized cichlids who have a attitude bigger then themselves. There also known as the rabbits of the cichlid world since they breed so much.

Ha ha... I Googled "convicts" I think I'd better try wording it "Convict CICHLIDS" I might get a better response.... don't want to read about any criminals!

Yeah convict cichlid will get you better response on a search lol.
