fish id!

don't find much on a google search but it appears to be a south american closely related to a firemouth so you might check out the firemouth cichlids and go from there. I don't have any of my books with me here so I can't check those. maybe someone else has seen these fish. they look pretty nice from the pictures I found. where do you have the fish? kyle

In the Sept. issue of Aquarium Fish, It has an articile about them. They are closely related to the firemouth. More purple though. Reach 6" and somewhat shy and need clean and well oxygenated water. Ph 7 - 7.4. Pretty fish

I used to have a few of them. They are just like a firemouth but have blue instead of the red. Same care is taken for them as for a firemouth. Im currently keeping a T. pasionis (A.K.A. Yellow Meeki) This speiceis shows lots of yellow and flares out black gills. Both the aureus and passionis are very showy fish. www.tangledupincichlids.com has them on his stock list pretty often.
