I saw a fish at my LFS today. I dont remember the exact name but it was something like ruby cichlid. It was whitish gray and its bottom fins were red and the paper under the tank said that it got 3". It was in a tank with rams.
Any Ideas?

Sometimes Bolivian rams are called ruby cichlids... was it a bolivian ram? Also, have you considered asking in the cichlid forum rather than General Freshwater? Might get some real cichlid heads down there...

It kind of looked like that. It was more pale/white than that however. It also was about triple the size of the blue ram in the tank.
I would say about --------------------------------------- that long.

Well, some bolivians can be more pale. Also, a blue ram is not the same fish. Bolivians can reach up to 3 inches. Maybe do a google image search for bolivian ram and see what you come up with for comparison. It's hard for us to ID the fish without actually seeing it, so you pretty much have to make that call based on what you can find on the net.

yeah I realized that the blue ram and bolivian arent the same. I think that it is a bolivian ram. How big do they get? Are they hardy? Will it do allright if I keep it alone in a community tank?

Thanks
