I plan on buying a 15 gallon tank very soon I just need to start getting some ideas on what type of fish I could keep in there so I can do some research. I would like a community tank with lots of colours and fish at all levels of the tank. For the top I was thinking 2 male dwarf gourami's as they come in nice colours. Thats all i've got so far so if anyone has any suggestions even if they do not include the dwarf gourami it would help alot so I can start research. Thanks.

Fire Red Gouramis are nice and are pretty colorful. Also I never have had an issue with a betta and gouramis. But that may limit your options with some other fish.

But I have a crowntail betta that live with 2 dwarf gouramis, 2 fire red gouramis, 5 Red Wag Tail Platys, and 3 Pink Aeneus Corys.

I would not suggest two male gouramis together. I made that mistake- when I first got them, they were just fine, but as they grew older they got very territorial and aggressive. If you want a gourami I would only get one as a centerpiece fish.
You could get a small school (6) of neon tetras or another small tetra and some cory cats/otocinclus cats for the bottom of the tank.

Hi,

I think one Dwarf Gourami would be a very nice center piece fish.

You should get a shoal of four Three-Striped Cories (Corydoras trilineatus) or four Schwartz's Cories (Corydoras schwartzi). Both very pretty and great community fish. They are also very good little cleaners.

Also a nice group of six Neon Tetras or Glowlight Tetras would be great.

they havent torn each other apart yet?
if they havent yet they will. i take it all of the dwarf gouramis are male, and males tend to fight, and the weakest will be bullied by the others until it dies, and then the next weakest will be bullied by the remaining, and then there will be two left, and they will go at it, and then if the betta isnt already dead because he has been getting picked on or got into a fight, he will here as the last remaining gourami tries to take control of the tank. i know that pet stores label them as peacful, and that you can keep more than one male togather, but in most cases, you cannot.

Nope they all have kept to themselves for the past 6 months. Each staking out their piece of tank. One of them is a female.

can male guppies and tetras go in together or will the tetras nip on the guppies?

I'm thinking of getting either neon tetras or cardinal tetras.
