Fish in floral arrangements Unacceptable cruel

Come now friend, I am not worked up, but simply pointing out to you that leaving part of the picture out makes for incomplete pictures!!

Someone had to have made the decision to convieniently leave the last sentance out of the quote. It did not just happen to show up and decide to leave it out. Why then did you choose to leave the last sentance out of the quote?

For interestingly enough, THE LAST SENTANCE OF THE QUOTE which was absent answers your very own ? posed by this thread!!!!!!!

I am curious please explain the logic of it to me!

Oh and if I was worked up my language and demeanor would definitely come of less diplomatic.

So far asI see things, to post on a forum such as this is inviting constructive criticism and viewpoints of fellow forum members.

fyi I could have easily googled the company and done some investigation

poor fish, what do they do with it when the party is over? down the drain? in the garbage disposal? swallow it? I don't know what people are thinking. http://www.vonlarae.com/product_info.php?products_id=406

To contextualize the quote and answer your own ? you ask by posting this thread, simply insert the missing sentance "FYI After the party all of the fish were safely transfered into their own fish bowls, and live happily ever after"

And, whammo badda bing badda boom, the ? is not relevant any more!!

So perhaps it should have been left in the origional and first reference quote!

Personally I find the idea distasteful and stressful for the fish. Some people are more concerned about money. Anything that makes a buck.

If the article was not changed, I agree with Chef about taking things out of context. If you are going to quote, QFT or not at all.

Just a FYI

I contacted the owner of the company to get some details from them because I was curious about the whole thing, have been exchanging email with them this aft. I am pretty sure it was not a thing added after this thread, but, was a thing added definitely to answer any uncertainties people may have had.

I whole heartedly am against fish bowls, so much that I love the ac new shirt

Meh,

I went to a wedding that had bettas in bowls as center pieces... While I personally wouldn't do it myself, there are some people who don't see anything wrong with it. In the wedding I went to, the groom purchased little packets of food, and 1 person from each table took the fish with the bowl home, with a business card of a local LFS...

You never know, maybe this situation created a few new fishkeepers. you guys know how it is, starts off with an innocent little bowl... 2 years and 14 tanks later, you're an addict. lol . .

But yeah, the only reason (in my opinion) that this company is being targetted is cause what they're doing is out there in the open (which in my opinion is less harmful that hundreds of others out there)... Not many people realize what's being done to whole eco systems by some of these huge corporations, yet we blindly use their products every day.

Kinda like how Europe decided to ban the import of seal products from Canada, which is such a minute number of imports when compared to the millions of slaughtered animals they bring in all the time, for food, clothes, shoes, etc.... Yet, seals are cute, so obviously they can't bring seals in the country. . . That would be immoral.

Gimme a freaken break. . lol . ..

Sorry, I got a little riled up there.

"FYI After the party all of the fish were safely transfered into their own fish bowls, and live happily ever after"

"happily every after" ???Isn't that the standard bs-ending for children's fairy tales? Or has someone actually found a magical elixir which cures bettas of that most terminal of all afflictions - death?

Edit 1) OMG -- and did anyone check out the Jo-Voni roses? Ugh, I'm not sure what's more repellent -- fake flowers made out of fake dollar bills, or fake flowers made out of real dollar bills. There's just something tragically wrong with people who think the beauty of nature could be improved upon by hybridizing it with money. Totally "Real Housewives" (of Atlanta, New Jersey, New York, or Orange Country, take your pick) kinda trash. IMO.

They're in the floral industry, not the fishkeeping industry .. I do still think that what they're doing is much MUCH better than those companies that sell those tiny little cube tanks with 3 zebra danios in them, a small live plant and some gravel, and label it as the perfect self sufficient little fishy environment. And they sell these things all over petshops.

Like it or not, the way bettas are portrayed in the industry doesn't help either. in 2 inches of water in plastic cups most of the time, at the LFS. What kind of message is that sending to newer fish hobbiests that don't know better?

And this is done by almost every LFS I've seen, reputable or not.

I think you're kind of missing the point I was trying to make. If these people are trying to convey the fact that the fish in the floral arrangements are returned to a proper environment after they've served their purpose as a decorative element in a piece of live art (to which I am not opposed) then why wouldn't they just come out and say so, rather than resorting to this "happily ever after" dodge?
