I hate to keep posting questions, I actually do search and try to find the answer before I post.

What is the general rule of thumb for fish load in a heavily planted 55g aquarium? My initial thoughts are 12 Cardinal Tetras, 4-6 Gouramis, 2 Blue Rams, 4-6 Coris, some Amano Shrimp. Light? Medium? Heavy?

How about compatability? Am I on track does anyone see any issues with my proposed selecion? Anything else to add? Maybe an Otocinclus Catfish.

That's a light/med. fish load for a 55. Hopefully you can get 4 - 6 gouramis to get along in a tank. I've had trouble getting more than two to get along(and they were pearls):) .
I would suggest at least 4 otos. They are more comfortable with company.

Len, you are the reason I keep coming back! Thanks for all the advice.

My thoughts on the Gourami's were 3 pairs of different types (Perl, Gold, and Blue) was hoping they would cope better, now rethinking that.

Ok, so 6 Oto's, 2 Gourami, 12 Cardinal Tetras, 6 Coris, 2 Blue Rams. How about adding some Platinum Lyretail Mollies, or sword tails, or even just another 6 or so odd type of Tetra?

Thanks!

Mike

I would stick to one specie of gourami.. golds and blues are the same specie (commonly known as the 3-spot gourami). There will be a of fighting with this many gourami, especially 4 3-spot gourami.

I would look into honey gourami, they like to be with their own kind (for the most part). i would suggest chocolate gourami except they are shy, can be hard to feed, and can be delicate.

I've decided to go with 2 Gourami's. I want a nice quiet peaceful tank were everyone is happy.
