Fish Nazi at LFS

ah....I'm following ya but what makes the word defined as something else final though.... I mean how long does it have to be used as something different for it to become "coloquial" (is that the word?).... society?

How about this for a colloquialism ...

purple stringing: the act of prolonging a conversational thread far past its natural lifespan strictly for entertainment value; typically intended as a compliment for a witty posting ("Dude, you were SO purple stringing it on that troll.")

LFS employee: What fish do you have in there?
Aquarob: Community fish. Dont worry, I have schools of both these fish, just adding to them.
LFS employee: Right, but what kind of fish do you have in there besides the tetras?
Aquarob: 4 corydoras, 4 Oto's, and 4 Celebes Rainbows.
LFS employee: (waving fingers) These are not the fish you are looking for.
Aquarob: What?...
LFS employee: (waving fingers) These are not the fish you are looking for.
Aquarob: These are not the fish I'm looking for.
LFS employee: (sending text message to friends) dude jedi mind trick totally worked
Aquarob: Seriously, junior, gimme the fish or I'll start a thread about you on AquariaCentral.
LFS employee: D'oh!
LFS manager: And we would have gotten away with it, too, if it hadn't been for those meddling kids.

Replace Aquarob with Chewbacca and the whole incident would have taken 15 seconds. ...not counting ambulance/ hospital time.

(edit, btw, I used to work with two French guys. They found no humor at all in using the term Nazi. It was almost like a derogatory word for them. Being a typical smarty American, I said fine... I'll just use "Vichy" the next time I need a synonym for Nazi. ....they didn't laugh.)

Wow, good thread good thread. Talked to the guy, his name was Forrest. No, im not kidding. Anyway, we agreed to disagree. So I told him about this site and a couple rainbowfish orientated sites he should look up. He said he would. /shrug I think if hes working next time I buy some fish, he's likely to just bag them up, regardless. Which in a way is what I wanted, so I guess I am happy. I told him more gently that what he was doing was generally a good thing, only he needed to be more tactful. At that point he got a little defensive again, so I just let it go. Some people are just born goosesteppin'. :joke:

P.S. I loved the star wars reference, but I doubt even Chewie wouldve torn his arms off for that. Though, if he was in a bad mood, who knows. He did nearly crush Lando's windpipe... :D

You're showing your age with that Scooby-Do reference.

age? i used to watch those at least once a week growing up, and im only 16!, then again, i have never liked the new cartoons, they pale in comparison to the really old ones (yes scooby doo, although addicting to kids, is horribly put together)

Actually, I could be referring to the episode of Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law, where he defends Shaggy & Scooby on marijuana possession charges (explains why they were always giggling and had the munchies) ... :sim:
