2- RB pacu- 5-6 inches -- 1 year old
1- oscar - 3 inches -- 2 months old
2- tin foil barbs - 2 inches --7 months old
2- silverdollar - 1 inch -- 5 months old
1- catfish (wild caught) 6 inches
2- pl*co - one is 3 inches and the other is 2

in the research i did i found out that these fish grow large and rapidly....but these fish havent really grown as it should....i didnt think that there was anything wrong until i saw my friends pacu (which he bought AFTER me) and it is over 12 inches already... i donno the reason why they dont grow....iam thinking its because of stress or over crowding because i feed them 2 times a day so i dont no why they dont grow....any advice?.....suggestions?....thought??
anything will be greatly appreciated... :dive:

Well to be honest it's probably because your fish are becoming stunted. Check out the sizes that these fish will grow to and you will see what I mean.

all those fish are way to big for a 50 gallon except maybe the silver dollar. they all got to a foot long. the pacus have been known to get about almost three feet long in some cases. i hope you have a larger tank for those fish or you should really consider taking them back

If you want to get good growth out of your fish, do frequent large partial water changes. 75% 2-3x week would be a good start.

Though in my opinion, your fish selection is poor for your tank size...

Id be suprised if you get any more growth out of those guys in that tank.

IMO, you need at least a 1000g tank to house all those fish when grown and even that may be pushing it, especially with the Pacus. Only in a large tank will you see rapid growth and healthy fish. Take the fish back and get some reasonable sized fish for your tank...anything in the 6-8" max when grown(med size). You can fit 4-5 medium sized fish in that tank with good filtration and water changes.

yeah dude, u can get a tank with just silverdollars,,or just your 2 tinfoldbarbs, but all those fish,NO!!!!!!!! and if i was u,, i would take all back execpt the oscars, oscars are fun

the plecostomas should grow, mine are in a 55gal and they are over or around a foot in length, i have tinfoil barbs that are growing, along with balas and then the rest are small fish...

A common pleco is too big for a 55g and so are tinfoil barbs and balas unless you are planning on putting them into a much bigger tank.
And like everyone else has stated Mert999, I think your fish selection was not the best.
