Hello,

I am curious. How many of you purchase fish your tanks online ? If so what sites do you trust. Anyone against it ?

I read an article that made good sense in regards to concern about ordering online. That state the question how do you think most fish get to your favorite fish store ? They are shipped of course unless they breed inhouse which is rare.

Just wanted fellow aquarists opinions.

Cheers,

James

I go to the store, but the store I go to is self serve so I get to pick and chose the exact fish I want... You get a net and a container and take as long as you like...

Im a BigAls guy. I get everything I need at my LFS-Big Als. Too bad they are only in Canada.

They are opening stores in the US too. The first one opened in Florida a few months ago. :)

Apparently not all Big Al's are that great either. I really like the one in Edmonton, but I've heard the Calgary one is horrible. They're opening another one there in the near future...maybe the management will be better?

I've bought fish online, and personally don't reccomend it due to the fact that I can't see what I'm buying (As RTR said) and because you have to pay a large shipping charge. The last time I bought a fish online was from Dr. Foster and Smith, and even though the fish came promptly, they certainly were not the fish I could've chosen from my LFS's tank.

I buy my fish from the LFS around my area. But if there was a type of fish that I could not get from the LFS I would order it online.
