Fish Quantity

you can also identify where they feed and hang out by their mouths. There are three types of fish mouths: superior, inferior, and terminal.

superior indicates that they eat at the surface
an example would be killifish or arrowana

inferior means they eat at the bottom
An example would be a cory or a pleco

and terminal means that they eat in the mid range of the tank.
an example would be a goldfish or tetra

of course, most fish can eat from any region of the tank they choose, but this helps Identify where they will spend the majority of thier time.

general plan for a 10 galllon

As a starting point, I had a 10 gallon with 6 serpae tetras, 1 corydorus catfish, and 2 otocinuclus and 2 shrimp.

One might substitute any similarly sized tetra, the shrimp were to clean live plants and so could be skipped. A second cory would ahve been nice, the 2 otos helped clean the glass and brown algae that I had at the start.
