My Globe eye goldie is in a 15 gal established tank. His eyes have what seems to be a 1cm layer of white fluff around them, and his back has white blotches He is also swimming very rigidly. I think he might be very ill,and if so, whats wrong with him, how do i treat him? should i @put him down@ and how should i?

pls respond asap :P)

Sounds like a fungal infection. Is the growth fuzzy and cottony looking? You should check water parameters and everything anyway, but it sounds like the immediate problem is a fungus.

There are commercial anti-fungal medicines that should help, but make sure the water quality is good to avoid recurring problems. The book I have recommends medicine with malachite green in it, but you should do some more research to be sure.

A 15 gallon tank seems small for a goldfish. I agree that water test results are needed.

water tests came back.. ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 1 ..

he dead now :(

and he lives (lived :( ) with his bestest friend. Mr pinches IV the crayfish.

Oh, James... I'm so sorry for your loss. I think it might have been columnaris, since he died so quickly. Your params were good.

How big was he?

I'm terribly sorry for your loss.

Rid fungus worked for me in the past when treating feeders with fungal issues. It is also a passive way of dealing with it but it works.
