Does anyone know of a good lfs in central Connecticut? I live in Southington and work in New Haven, so pretty much anything along 91 south of Hartford is easy to get to. As are Waterbury and Plainville. Thanks!
The puppy center in hartford; exotic superpet in east hartford; magic pet in wethersfield; aquarium conservation in cromwell; wet pets in vernon; and waterbury aquarium, in, um, waterbury.
There is one here in west haven, slither and swim, about 10 min from new haven after all the stupid lights! Exit 44 on 95 s, drive straight till the road t's. The store is right in the plaza in front of you. It is kinda small, but for the most part they are pretty good. Otherwise I use petco on exit 9 on 91.
Late to the game here, but I have been using two: there is a pet/fish store with quite a few tanks on Queen Street in Southington. Typical LFS prices. There is also All Pets Club in Wallingford that seems to have quite a decent inventory.
In West Hartford (near Bertuccis on Main St.) there is a new Petco, though the inventory is small and the tanks are still cycling. There is a store named "Puppy center" or something also in WH that has quite a few tanks in a very darkly lit back room... the condition of the outside of the tanks was kindof scary but the fish were really awesome looking. It could be worth the trip if you are looking for something unique!
Personally except for fish I have taken to using www.bigalsonline.com for just about everything... $13 for an Aquarium Pharmaceuticals master test kit when both LFS wanted $22 - $24.
I've been going to Magic Pet in Wethersfield and they have a great selection of fish. It's right off of 91 on the Silas Deane. I'll have to poke my head into some of the others which were suggested. Thanks.
