Fish Tank Insurance

some insurance companies, will insure it under fire, theft, breakage, but You have to prove that you didn't do it yourself, lmao, and if you have a premium, sometimes its more than just one tank is worth, mine are all covered under renters, incase of disasters, but they are only covered for fair market value.

I'd be interested in seeing what they actually cover and what the terms of breakage are. Mine were covered by my homeowners under personal property due to Hurricane Katrina damage. The fish deaths due to power outage related to the storm were covered under "Too F'n Bad."

Ooooooh, what I would like to give that person if I were face to face...

state farm insures mine for whatever i need :)

Thats who I use, are you sure on the terms?...Not to sound condescending, but If theres a better form of the policy I have would much rather have it.

i asked about it.. and she said that yeah, it was all covered.. as long as it wasnt something i actively did, it was covered.. and if, say, the tank breaks, all the stuff that is damaged by the water is covered.

it's not specifically in the contract, but the tank is noted high on the list of my possessions.

It's been a while since I worked in insurance and I know some things have changed. My suggestion is to ring your insurance company and get your tank added as a specified item covered against accidental damage as well as standard cover. Give a value and remember to include all the things like pipework. That way, say for example someone falls into it and knocks it over you should be covered.

I know my LFS has just done a job for a client which was due to an insurance claim because their tank cracked. I'm pretty sure that you won't get cover for the livestock though.
