I agree with the heavier meds in the Q tank, add melafix to the main tank for it won't hurt, but as fish gets ill remove to the Q tank and treat more aggressivly. Only the catfish cannot be treated agressivly, IMO.
A salt dip as you remove a fish from the main tqnk, then place into clean water, might be helpful, but do some research! You'd need to disinfect the Q tank to be sure the stripped fish (salt dip cleans off slime coat and all bacteria, but leaves the fish open to new infections until slime coat is replaced.) so the new Q tank must be very clean. Be sure to be disinfecting all tools and not sharing between tanks. Wash your hands!
