Fish turned pale and breathing fast

I think it is too late at this point to help them. My kuhli loach is doing what I call "death rolls", that is, it is flailing around looking like it is about to die. My farlowella is on it's side barely breathing. I heavily doubt they will make it.

I'm terribly sorry for your loss. I've been reading this post just now, and went back to read the other post about the Gourami with parasites to try to consider all factors.

An ammonia level of .5ppm is very significant, and some fish are more sensitive to it than others. I don't know for sure if this is what has caused the death of your Khuli and the condition of the Farlowella, but it very likely could be.

I would monitor closely the other tank, and if you find any detectable traces of ammonia I would do water changes frequently until you can get it to 0ppm, and I really like Prime to help detoxify ammonia and/or nitrite when you are having spikes.

Do you know what the gh/kh and ph was in the 55 gallon tank was when you moved them to the 10 gallon, and what the numbers were in the 10 gallon? It would be helpful if you could give us the readings compare the gh/kh and ph in the two tanks. This may help us in trying to determine what killed them. (I'm sorry to say that your Farlowella will have soon have the same fate, if not already, based on your description of his condition.)

You were right. My farlowella died soon after I posted that the kuhli died. I just didn't bother looking at the forum I liked my stick :( I remember posting the GH and KH earlier in the thread... the KH was over 300ppm or at that number. The GH was at 75ppm, and the ph is at 7.4. For my 10g the levels are 120 KH 75 GH. PH is neutral on that tank. My dwarf gourami on the other hand is no longer bloated, but still won't eat. He was in the same tank with the 2 fish that were having difficulty breathing. I threw the dead fish obviously.
