Fish with goldfish?

Don't misinform him. Goldfish don't get that big in smaller tanks. He will have a 54 liter. I've seen people keep goldfish in half that tank size for over 10 years.

You're the one thats misinformed. i recommend you read up before you start posting nonsense ****.

When a fish is in a tank thats too small for it, its body stops growing, causing it to have internal damage, etc.

Goldfish are COLDWATER fish, while BETTAS and GUPPIES are TROPICAL. They live in different temperature waters and eat different foods.

Also, goldfish are one of the MESSIEST fish around. A 14 gallon tank simply CANNOT support 2 goldfish for more than a couple months.

Unlike our friends, JDonner, I have experience with Goldfish.

I agree.

It's easy to fall for the myth that fish are 'okay' with being in a smaller environment. But if you can imagine your insides slowly outgrowing your outsides and the affect that would have on your entired body for your organs to be bunched so tightly in your body cavity... the stress, the suseptibility to illness and disease, and sure... not all of them experience a shortened life expectancy.

Not everyone dies when the doctor give them only three months to live... but that's not to say that they don't suffer the illness regardless of how long they live, either.

I honestly didn't believe it, myself, until I took the time and researched it and saw the scientific evidence. When I was a kid, we had three large 3-4" orandas and a common pleco squished into a 15-gallon tank! We just didn't know better and they all died after 4 years. We never could figure out what went wrong.

a minimum tank size for goldies is 30 gallons, with that tank you could fit 2 golds in it, then its 10 gallon per goldy after that so 40 gallons can hold 3, 50 holds 4 etc. So instead of getting the 14 gallons, go for a 30 gallon now (aprox 100 liters), if the temp is in the lower 60's you can try some coldwater minnows since the colder the water the more oxygen is in it. But also beware that the goldy may eat the minnows. Never mix golds with warm water fish.

I currently have a small (about 2") pleco in with my comet/koi/shubunkin school. I didn't do much prebuy research and since wallyworld had the plecos in with the others I figured I might as well get one of those too to keep any algae down.

After reading this forum the last couple of hours, I am already considering a larger tank!

With a life expectancy of 20+ years....

My tank has ranchus n guppies in it...
water temp bout 26 degree celcuis...
not encountering any prob yet

wouldnt suggest that your put eaither of those fish with goldfish as they're tropical, as others have said. a 14 gallon tank is too small for two goldfish as it is really. if you get a biiger tank there are plenty of diffrent types of fish that will go with your goldfish.

You are aware that goldfish get pretty big, right?
