Fishkeeping in a RV...

Thank you very much! And I will say that Mike is right. The people here are so much nicer than on other forums I have been on. I called them Nazi forums. It was either their way... (They being the mods) Or, you get flamed, called names, screamed at... Etc... Etc....

Again thank you all for the warmth and welcome!

Michael

Welcome Michael

Hope your wife makes a full recovery and the cancer never comes back.

I love those tank backgrounds are they painted on or what?

Very cool.I always thought it would be cool to retire and travel in a RV,but I didn't think it would be possible to keep fish. You've given me hope! Although retirement is easily 30 years away!
Best wishes to you and your wife.I hope she makes a quick recovery.

Does this RV move? I dont see how this is possible without some kind of earthquake strapping, unless the RV is stationary.

Edit - NVM, didnt notice this thread had more than 1 page, lol. Good read and pictures, this is something to remember if I ever to get to the age or opportunity to travel in an RV.

Thank you all for the kind words to my Wife.

We're about 25 years to retirement ourselves! *LOL*

Does this RV move? Oh yeah, we have taken it to several places around the country since we purchased it in 2007. As for right now we are stationary. At least for a couple of years. We don't really have earthquakes in Colorado, so no earthquake strapping. Although it does have the "Big foot" leveling system on it. A simple push of a button levels it with 6 hydraulic jacks, and there she is!

I like your tanks! I especially like the painted background on the one tank! Makes me want to make some painted background (on boards so I can easily remove it).

And yes, this is the best forum I have found. Many others were VERY confused about what they were telling each other to do. One even said that IT was the best forum and joked about the advise being bad on all other forums. LOL, I guess that forum never say this one!

Geeze... That is pathetic! Lot's of new fishkeeping peeps parouse forums like these as part of their research. Or questions on why their tank is cloudy or what is ailing their fish. I realize i'm preaching to the choir, but still...

One I was on, that started with a "B." I'll not name the rest, as to me it would be advertisement for such a crappy board.... They noticed the pic of my Crowntail Betta and Red Dwarf Gourami occupying the same tank.

(Background on that.) Both fish made the rounds through various community setups that I had prior to the 55. They have been in the same tank together for nearly a year now. They eat together, swim together etc... I'm not the type of person just to throw fish like that in together or community tanks without close observation of personality and attitudes. So no, standard practice it's not a good idea.

On THAT board, according to the geniuses that be, (using that term VERY loosely) I pretty much should have been tarred, feathered, burned at the stake and condemned to hell... *LOL* Then, having a large Angelfish in the same tank as various small tetra's, platies, a molly, a couple of hatchetfish, glo-fish.... MOST of these fish had already been in the tank together for a couple of years when I got it. And they get along fine. No eaten kids by the Angel. Hmmm...

Yet again, to "them," I was the ultimate fish sinner as I have mixed Asian with South American, and African... Yeah.... I did...

Realizing that all these kids have different feed needs, I make my own food.

Point is that they were viciously rude, terribly hateful, and yes I was kicked off the board for posing a couple of simple questions. "I am seeing that the only way to really get advice or have valid questions answered in return with a valid answer is to follow YOUR rules and YOUR rules only. Regardless. So at this time I have to ask. Do all of your "followers," have blonde hair and blue eyes?"

Ok so it was a question that may have been a little overboard, but I received the exact answer I was expecting. Boot off of the board... *LOL*

So, once again, I thank you one and all at Aqauria Central, for the warm welcome, very nice praises of my tanks. And most of all the well wishes.

Michael
