Fishless Cycle nearly done for 55gal. What's the best way to transition to fish?

Do you know for sure that your water have chloramine. Because if it does not have it you can probably save yourself even more money buying something that just get rid of chlorine. I do not use anything and I keep delicate plecos. If fill my tanks very slowly and aereate the water.

I did a water change Friday (40-50%) and now, three days later, the nitrites and nitrates are still about the same.

Should I do another water change? Since the nitrites are still off the charts? Nitrates are about 20ppm

Sucks, because I was hoping my tank would be ready by tomorrow.

Yes. Do another water change. Sorry but I think you were a little premature on thinking the tank was cycled. But the good news is once the nitrite starts to drop it can drop fast. But best to do another water change the bigger the better just do not disturb the substrate or the filter where the bacteria are.
