Fishless Cycle

Once you start seeing the nitrites begin to rise, reduce the ammonia dose to achieve 2-3 ppm ammonia daily.

The reason for this is because Nitrite bacteria don't do well in water with massive ammonia levels. 2-3 ppm ammonia is a safe level so they'll multiply well.

Squawkbert:

I have no idea what the concentration is in that bottle. So you're saying it should have taken me much more ammonia. Well...it did...it slowly rose over the first few days. With no sign of nitrite, I can assume that the amount it took to get to 5PPM was the accumulative amounts I have added or approx 6 tsp which would equal 30ml or so...which at a concentration of 5% would be 1.5g which is just above 5 PPM. I'm guessing on the 5% concentration. It is probably more like 4% but I'm not sure why I think that. :

I will add 6 tsp per day until I see Nitrite and then drop it to 3 tsp. I will continue to do my normal testing.

Thanks Everyone
