fishy behavior

Today before i went to school i turned the light off, and it stayed off for about 6 hours. Then, when i came back i noticed my 6 lemon tetras were swimming at a 45 degree angle sort of. When i turned the light on, they were upright. When i turned the light off, they did the same thing. I must have done this 4 or 5 times, getting the same results... interesting isnt it...lol

My lemon tetras are often swimming at 45 degree angles when the lights are off. Not sure why, I thought they had swim bladder problems or something at first, but since most of the time they swim normally, I figure they are fine.

ill do some research.. but i doubt anyone will know why lemon tetras swim at 45 degree angles when the lights turned off

Was the top of their body pointed towards the ambient room lighting? My harlequin rasboras will do that if it is mostly dark in the room with just the desk light on. They kind of angle themselves towards the light source. It must have something to do with how they process what is up and what is down. Either that or my fish are messin with my head LOL!

I'll experiement with that theory... i didnt notice last time i checked up on the little guys

sooner or later the mystery of the tilted tetras will be cracked...

hmm.. keep monitoring them.. maybe swim bladder disease? or they are just waking up. hehe

My Black Skirt Tetras do the exact thing as well. When the tank lights are off and the room lights are still on, they will tilt their bodies so that the top of the fish is towards the ambient light in the room. They did that from day one when I got them and they been doing that for over 1 year now. However, once the tank light is on, they straigthen themselves out. I don't think it's swim bladder disease...
