Fishy Cycling a 29 Gallon Tank

No prob - yep what 7itanium said re your maintenance routine, need for water conditioner etc.

One thing I would add, I think 7itanium said add Prime after you've used the python to fill the tank.

I think it's best to add the Prime to the tank before you refill the tank. I wouldn't want chlorinated water to be running into my tank before Prime is added.

I"m basing this on a post by KarlTH whose comment suggested that adding Prime to water before adding back to the tank might be the best course, although many successfully dose the tank before adding the water.

He stated that he was unsure of the instantaneous dechlorination of water that is added to a tank that has been pre-dosed with dechlorinator.

In light of that, I think that putting dechlorinated water into the tank and then adding Prime might be risky.

Most people do add Prime first, though, and then just add the water and I've never read where that caused a problem for anyone.

I added water to my 10 gallon, that I mistakenly thought was dechlorinated, and fish started turning belly up immediately. I realized what I had done and added Prime immediately, but it was too late; several fish died within minutes, one lasted two hours. Very sad.
