Hello there everyone.
I was wondering if anyone knows of some fish resources in SE Ohio, the Parkersburg area of West Virginia, or anywhere else close by. Well run fish stores, auctions, or aquarium clubs? I am mostly just fishing for some good info. I know the few fish stores here in Athens, but cannot find much in the surrounding area.
:sick: Im having the same trouble. I live in Darwin. I like Petland in Athens for the fish , but watch their advice its not always good. Belpre Aquarium is another good one. Ive heard theres one in Ripley too, but havent tried it yet. On the other side of Parkersburg theres one, but I cant remember the name of it. Its close to the residental area though, behind a grocery store. Kinda hard to find. I will ask hubby tomm. if he can give me so directions to it cause I couldnt tell you how to go through the buisness section there. I hate driving in cities. LOL. Have you had much luck with Fish N Stuff in Athens? I got some snails there, but no fish yet. Also DO you have any advice for me on the local ones? I only know of Pet land,Fish n stuff, and the beach house( which dont look too good to me) their tanks are nasty dirty, and dead fish everywhere! The one at Galia beside Wal mart is bad too. I wouldnt buy even a snail there. :sick:
I have gotten many happy healthy fish there. They do a good job with quarantine. Obviously they are small so the selection can be limited, but they get neat fish sometimes. I do go to Petland once in a while, but they really do not know what they are doing. I have seen many sick and dead fish there. Not horrid amounts, but enough to turn me off. I do buy supplies there though, and at the Wal-Mart. Other than that I don’t know. However, if I learn anything more I'll let you know.
Yeah they think they know it all and have killed mine from bad advice.But those 2 shops are the closest to me and I dont like to travel. Ive never had any bad probs. with the new fish I got from petland just the advice. I did end up having a molley with a swim bladder prob. and still dont know what to do for him. He is still eating and doing well just a bit bottoms up LOL. Its been over a month now. Have you been to the belpre aquarium yet? and also theres south side BBC i think thats the name in parkersburg. They remodled and has 100s of tanks now from what Ive heard. I know its close to the Iron Workers Hall Local 787 You could loook that up and go from there. Its almost at an intersection. Im so horrible with street names.
Also Fish N Stuff is the only place I can find my Mystery snails that are healthy looking. I just bought 4 more there. The little one died after 2 days just like the last batch I got from them, but the others are just fine. I have one that actually tried to eat my hand every time I put my hand in the tank. He is not shy thats for sure. I put it in my hand and it will try to crawl on me. Im starting to wonder if it can bite. I did feel some teeth or maybe its not what they said it is. LOL who knows guess I will find out on my own. Shannon
Hi I raise Angelfish for Pet Shops in those areas the Pet Shop in Ripley is having problems I don't think he has his fish up again yet. There is a pet shop in Lancaster Ohio, the new pet shop in Gallipolis is the Busy Barn Yard (right beside the new Hotel going in near norris northup car lot.) The one in Nitro West Virginia is owned by A man named Barry he is very helpful and nice, his shop is called JoMars. I also sell to ones in Beckley WV and Summersville, WV. but that may be alittle to far for you to travel.
